Representatives

The Tribunal may recognise, as the representative of a supervised person:

  • a person chosen by the supervised person,
  • another person, if in the opinion of the Tribunal:
    • the supervised person is unable to choose a person to be their representative,
    • the prospective representative is a person who has sufficient interest in the person.

A Communication Partner may be appointed by the Tribunal to assist a supervised person during hearings of the Tribunal.

The Mental Health Advocacy Service also offer a free service supporting people who are receiving or referred for involuntary mental health treatment and can assist and advocate for supervised persons.
